Why UPCs can be important to your private label success.

What are UPCs?

What are UPC codes?

UPC (Universal Product Code) - UPCs are scannable Barcodes that are unique identifiers for products.

Why would I need to provide them?

Although not required, we strive to optimize your customer experience, and your client's customer experience from A-Z. UPCs allow us to keep your inventory the most accurate possible.
  • When performing regular physical inventory counts, UPCs allow for speed and accuracy. We use bluetooth barcode scanners to count inventory on hand.
  • This same scanning method will be used when counting inventory that has just been shipped and received at our facilities. Providing accurate availability and the ability to catch mistakes and discrepancies in receiving
  • Many of the products we help sell and warehouse are very similarly named. UPC’s are the best unique identifier and help in eliminating errors in communication and inventory update/edit request

How do I get them?

Ideally you would lean on the manufacturer to supply unused UPCs for free or at a small fee. However, if you do need to purchase them on your own, you can get them from multiple sources online who sell recycled UPCs.

There are literally hundreds of sites...just be sure that it isn’t a scam site!

Unless you plan to sell your product on Amazon, recycled UPCs work just fine!  Ultimately, we just need them in our system and warehouse as a unique identifier.  This is why it cannot be the same UPC that the manufacturer uses for the branded version of the products.
